Martina

Joint Director

Martina grew up in London and spent her teenage years working in building maintenance. This inspired a passion for spatial design, leading to studying Interior Architecture in Brighton. Whilst studying, she volunteered on numerous social and environmental causes, from; the food waste collective, community garden spaces, afterschool food clubs and designing and building a café for people in recovery from substance abuse.

Throughout her undergraduate degree she also worked on multiple projects abroad tackling a range of development issues; this included; aid relief building in the Philippines, building playgrounds in Roma settlement areas in Romania and working in informal settlements in Mumbai as an action-researcher.

Since returning to London she has completed a master’s degree from the Bartlett school of Architecture in Building and Urban Design in Development, and has a strong focus on community-led public space. Her professional background in London has been running design and build projects with young people aged 6-25, supporting young people in the city to take action and change the city spaces in which they live.

Martina joined Global Generation in 2019 to help bring youth and community-led co-design practice to the development of the spaces in the Story Garden.
