School and community gardener

I’ve joined Global Generation for a stint doing all and sundry, happily moving from garden to garden and bringing in some small part the skills I’ve developed from my other roles and work outside Global Generation. Happily it seems that Global Generation is populated with a base of wise and very experienced community-minded people!

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Painting from Camberwell College of Arts, and have worked with community groups for the last five years in my community in south London, telling local history stories, providing access to a small volunteer run library, and raising funds for people in need. The last year, in amidst the chaos and heartache that COVID produced, I was able to reflect on what I wanted to do even further, and what I liked about the work I was doing within my community; I solidified my love of both people and nature, and gave a name to that love and desire to learn. So, I’ve started my plant journey, and perhaps focused it a bit more on agro-ecology; that is to say, food, access to nature and green space, people and inequality, and eventually greater equality. I’m glad to be here at Global Generation, for the shared skills and outreach amongst young people and the communities they sit within.

My interests nestle within the paragraph above, and within people and place; a desire to be deep-rooted in my city and the world. This encompasses the natural world, which includes people, and I’m always looking for ways to knit together people and the world they live in.
