Sarah
Operations Manager
I have always had a fascination with animals and the natural environment and firmly believe that education is one of the most important tools we have to help us to protect the environment we live in for future generations.
I grew up wanting to be a dolphin trainer, and then a researcher of dolphin behaviour so went off to study for a degree in Zoology, followed by a masters in Animal Behaviour, and it was during this time that I really developed a passion and understanding of sustainability and conserving the natural environment (and a love of being on dry land!). I have tried to keep this at the forefront of wherever I have worked, interning at the Marine Stewardship Council and working as a volunteer coordinator and operations manager for a conservation volunteering organisation.
Realising I wasn’t happy in a conventional office environment, I joined Global Generation as the Café Manager at the Skip Garden. I loved being a welcoming face for customers and learning more sustainable food systems, but I was always keen to get more involved in the operational side of the organisation. Now that the café is closed you can often find me playing with spreadsheets in the office or typing away on my laptop. The joy of working in a GG office is that I can go and help out in the garden if I need to take a break from the screen - not conventional at all!
