Silvia
Senior YOUTH PROGRAMMES Coordinator
I grew up in a small Italian village surrounded by endless cornfields and the smell of cow dung. My grandparents, who were farmers, lived with me. Rabbits, chickens, crops, fruit trees. It was so nice spending the entire summer barefoot. In secondary school I fell in love with philosophy and carried on studying it at university, preparing for exams under the trees around an old countryside church. The image of soil in the lines of my grandparents’ hands and the joy of learning from Nature travelled with me when I came to the UK. After my experience in the education department of a zoo in Devon, I moved to London and found Global Generation.
At Global Generation I work with young people and working with them shapes me, too. As Youth Co-ordinator, I hope to give young people and their families opportunities to find themselves in Nature and feel joyful and connected as I was in my childhood and as I feel when I look at a tree or smell moss on a wall.
